Trolley Diaries
I have an obsession with abandoned shopping trolleys.
This first began when I discovered a cluster of them in the street near our house in 2018, 2km from the nearest shopping centre.
Over the course of a week, they separated, strayed a meter or two, and eventually trundled off in different directions, onto their next adventure. Each movement at the behest of a passer by.
And then I started to see them everywhere.
What intrigues me is the untold story of how they came to be in their current location of abandonment, so far from their home, across rugged terrain and hostile footpaths. These stories are lost, but the trolleys remain.
This project focuses on the act of displacement, and the way it resonates with the surrounding landscape.
